Gene Therapy Mechanism of Action (MOA) Illustration

Industry: Biotechnology / Metabolic Therapeutics

Client Type: Biotech company

Purpose: Scientific conference presentation

Deliverables: Single-panel schematic MOA illustration, branded for conference display

Year: 2024

A biotechnology company developing a GLP-1 gene therapy for diabetes needed a clear schematic MOA illustration for presentation at a global diabetes conference. The illustration had to accurately depict the full sequence: AAV9 vector delivery, therapeutic transgene transduction into the beta cell nucleus, transcription to mRNA, translation to GLP-1 protein, packaging into secretory vesicles, and nutrient-stimulated GLP-1 release alongside insulin.

Scientific precision was required for a specialist audience. Visual clarity was equally important — the illustration needed to communicate a complex multi-step mechanism at conference scale, consistently with the company’s brand colours and style.

Working from the client’s sketch and independent research into the mechanism, Kryski Biomedia developed a schematic illustration that walks through each step of the GLP-1 expression pathway in sequence. Brand colours were applied to the foreground action; the background was kept monochromatic to reduce distraction and direct attention to the mechanism. The illustration was refined collaboratively with the client to remove visual noise and sharpen the step-by-step logic.

Results & Impact
The illustration was used in the company’s conference presentation, providing a clear visual reference for the therapy’s mechanism for a specialist scientific audience.
