
Mechanism of Action Illustration
The science is the foundation. The craft is in making it readable.
When a pharma or biotech team reviews a mechanism of action illustration, they look for two things: accuracy and clarity. The science has to be right. And the viewer has to be able to follow it, from step one to the end, without working too hard.
Kryski Biomedia produces MOA illustrations for health communications agencies, pharma companies, and biotech teams. Every project is led by Diana Kryski, a medical illustrator with an MScBMC from the University of Toronto and 18 years of experience in healthcare visualization. After you brief her on your science, she does her own research to make sure she can bring understanding and effectiveness to your visuals.

What we focus on
Clear sequential structure. Each step in the pathway is numbered and marked so the viewer always knows where they are and what comes next. Nothing floats. Nothing is ambiguous about sequence.
Directed visual flow. Composition, color, and layout are designed to move the viewer’s eye through the illustration in the intended order. The reader should not have to decide where to look next; the illustration does that work.
Calibrated complexity. An MOA built for medical affairs review is not the same illustration as one built for a patient brochure or an investor deck. Before the first sketch, we establish who the viewer is, what they already know, and how much detail serves them. The science stays accurate; the presentation adjusts.
Scientific accuracy. Each illustration is developed through research into the mechanism. We work from published literature and your scientific team’s input, not from generic templates. Errors are caught in development, not during client review.

What you get
MOA projects are typically multi-panel illustrations depicting the full therapeutic pathway — from molecular target through cellular response to physiological or clinical effect. Standard deliverables include:
- Single or multi-panel 2D MOA illustrations
- Branded to your client’s visual identity or agency style guide
- Delivered in formats ready for conference display, publication, investor decks, and digital platforms
- Available as static illustration or as the foundation for 2D or 3D animation

Multi-panel schematic MOA depicting AAV9 vector delivery, therapeutic transgene transduction, and GLP-1 expression in pancreatic beta cells. Developed for a global diabetes conference and reviewed by the client’s scientific team.

Gene therapy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Multi-panel MOA contrasting a healthy muscle cell’s dystrophin-anchored cytoskeleton with the unanchored cytoskeleton of a DMD cell, then walking through RGX-202’s five-step mechanism — from IV infusion through transgene delivery, microdystrophin production, and membrane transport, to stabilization of the cell membrane against contraction-induced damage.

Gene therapy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Multi-panel MOA tracing MYBPC3-associated HCM from the molecular defect (reduced MyBP-C protein and dysregulated actin-myosin cycling) through to a head-to-head comparison of gene therapy’s restoration of physiologic contractile regulation against the fixed, dose-dependent inhibition of cardiac myosin inhibitors.
