Project Description
Our client had a clear vision and wanted to create an activity booklet for children with epilepsy and their siblings. Their aim was to provide support, encouragement and inspiration to this patient community by creating something fun that also helps normalize their unique experiences and encourage self-esteem and acceptance.
Our Solution
We developed fun and engaging line illustrations including depictions of elements unique to the experience of a child with epilepsy, such as helmets, wheelchairs and support dogs. We aimed for a balance between detail (for interest) and simplicity (to allow for the children to color them), and included a diversity of ethnicities in the images of children. We also designed the dynamic page layouts to keep children engaged and exploring the pages.
Results & Impact
The book was enthusiastically received by families and healthcare providers alike. It became a valuable psychosocial resource helping children with epilepsy feel seen, empowered, and less alone.
